xReasons NOT to
pursue membership in Zeta
x
You are concerned with images and stereotypes.
Zetas do not have stereotypes; we are individuals. Membership is not limited to
a physical or personality "type". In Zeta, one is not asked nor required to fit
a mold, be made into a certain type, or fit any stereotype. All that is required
is an undying dedication to uphold the principles on which Zeta was founded. What you are is what you
bring to the organization. What you bring to the organization is what the
organization becomes.
You want to improve your social
status.
If you were a "lame" before; you will
still be a "lame" after you get your letters. You make the letters, the letters
don't make you.
You want to get into parties for free.
Start or join one of the many illegal
auxiliary groups on a campus near you.
You want to get closer to the men of
Phi Beta Sigma or another fraternity.
There are a lot of other ways to get this accomplished that will be much
easier for you than being a Zeta. You can always join an illegal auxiliary
group.
You want to be able to say, "Yep, I'm
Greek."
Start your own Greek letter organization. It will be a lot less work for
you.
Reasons for Pursuing
Membership
You want a real sisterhood.
Zeta is a true sisterhood in every sense of the word. Anyone can put on three
letters and wear the same colors and call themselves a sorority. Zeta is
also the only organization that truly has brothers. Whereas other organizations
simply loosely affiliated with each other, the ladies of Zeta are sisters to our
constitutionally-bound brothers of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity.
You don't just want to wear letters; you want to DO something with them.
Since its inception, Zeta Phi Beta Sorority has been community service oriented.
We volunteer our time and effort, we raise funds for charities, we provide
scholarships to deserving students. Zeta Phi Beta Sorority helps those who are
unable to help themselves. We put our letters to work every day, and we have
PLENTY of work you can start on as soon as you join our chapter.
You don't want to be known as just a
number. Anyone can stick the number 39, 49, 54, or even 135 on the back
of a shirt or jacket and call themselves a sorority member. It takes a special
woman to be a Zeta, and thus is recognized as such where ever she goes.
You have a deep understanding and commitment to Zeta's principles of Finer
Womanhood, Sisterly Love, Community Service, and Scholarship.
If you can uphold all four of these principles, then Zeta might be right for
you.
